Like disco lemonade.

Here's a project I've been working on for a few weeks... FINISHED! Joe's business card, complete with PHOTO CORNERS. I absolutely love the photo corners as a framing element!

.... and the other side!

Next project.... poster for the seersucker social! A graceful little sketch from one of my favorite new blogs... it makes me feel springy, even though it snowed today!

T-minus 4 days until the opening!!!

Thank god for NPR! When I feel bored with my music... I go on there and check out some of their favorites, and they never steer me wrong. I've been listening to the Black Keys for quite some time, so I was really excited to see that the lead singer, Dan Auerbach, has a solo album (Keep It Hid) that was featured in their top ten albums of 2009. Not only that, he is one creepy looking dude. I started drawing him and this is what happened.

it was there i found a book bound with leather, let it flow

oh hello. one night my roommate ralph requested that i draw him. ralph has really interesting features, including a pretty amazing brow and his mother's eyes, but in the past year he's been growing out the hair for a film that he's in. as much as we call him jesus/charles manson, he keeps on. it was a lot of fun drawing him from his pose :)
first drawing of the day the other day... from a yoga magazine at javas. oh, and reggie too <3

since this guy i know was published in bestlife magazine, i decided to give it a look-see. i find the articles incredibly interesting, and the photorefs pretty dapper. oh, and bubbles snuck in there too.

finally, my fave drawing that i've ever done of greggles. despite the wonky arm. location: javas :)

who went micron shopping? this moi. i stocked up on two more of my favorite hunter green no. 5s, got a purple no. 5, and a sweet purple brush pen that i have yet to use. i tried to combing them in this sweet drawing of the ever creepy miles davis. what a freaky looking, sweet, sweet dude. i've also been entertaining the idea of making an alphabet of drawings as a fun little self promoter. i got a little lost in the middle though, i started with p!

Miles Davis: Kind of.... Sweet

Lately, I've been getting back into Miles Davis. It all started when i got:

Oh man, this album is amazing. It's the perfect funky, sit on your porch and let the summer sun go down album. Miles himself is pretty funky-looking, so today at work I started drawing him...

which was okay... but i really wanted to capture his creepy face...

I kept thinking, "What makes him look so creepy?" I've decided it's a combination of his sweet chops (from his embouchure while playing the trumpet) and his gigantic eyes. More Miles to come!!!
