moar antlers plz

My sculpey Carla finally got some real hair! This was my first venture into cloth/wire hair, before I had always just made it from sculpey. All she needs now is some decent clothes, good lighting, and a bottle of wine :)

Above are a few of my type samples/logo samples I made up for my friend Chris' business card. I really want to do a linoleum block print of the antlers!!!!

sculpey madness: just add glasses
Recently there's been a surge of dimensional inspiration in my life. From awesome gifts (see above, glasses holder) to this inspiring video by liz lomax... I felt the need to sculpt again creeping in. The Making of Noel Gallagher from Liz Lomax on Vimeo.

i grabbed that sculpey self portrait i started ages ago, and got to work on it again! it's such a fun thing to work on during off days, today i finished painting and making glasses... and i'm going to make the hair and clothing out of cloth a-la red nose :) i think this lovely lady here will be featured on my new blog header, as well as a new business card. the next step after i finish her: how to incorporate the lino.

it was there i found a book bound with leather, let it flow
oh hello. one night my roommate ralph requested that i draw him. ralph has really interesting features, including a pretty amazing brow and his mother's eyes, but in the past year he's been growing out the hair for a film that he's in. as much as we call him jesus/charles manson, he keeps on. it was a lot of fun drawing him from his pose :)
first drawing of the day the other day... from a yoga magazine at javas. oh, and reggie too <3
since this guy i know was published in bestlife magazine, i decided to give it a look-see. i find the articles incredibly interesting, and the photorefs pretty dapper. oh, and bubbles snuck in there too.

finally, my fave drawing that i've ever done of greggles. despite the wonky arm. location: javas :)

you can call me al. or, the gozz knows

Oh hey, the holidays are over. It's 2009. What have I been up to you ask? Working on my show. Framing, matting, furrowing my brow. The opening is this Friday, the 16th, at 240 East Avenue in Rochester, New York from 6-9pm. I've been pretty crafty lately as well, working on my rug out of pompoms you see on top there. Tie them together and it's a fuzzy warm rug on a cold hardwood floor. Finally, I'm working on my final sketch to give to the happy couple, ALison and ALan for their wedding invite. I can't wait to paint it!!!!!
